Data Carpentry develops and teaches workshops on the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. Its target audience is researchers who have little to no prior computational experience, and its lessons are domain specific, building on learners' existing knowledge to enable them to quickly apply skills learned to their own research. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

Who: The course is aimed at ESR staff of all levels. You don't need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop.
Where: KSC Seminar Room, ESR, 34 Kenepuru Drive, Kenepuru, Porirua 5022, NZ. Get directions with OpenStreetMap or Google Maps.

Requirements: You will each be provided with an ESR laptop which will have all required software and admin rights set up for you. Mice will be available should you wish to use one, and if you prefer typing on a keyboard you are more than welcome to bring the one from your desk.

To participate in a Data Carpentry workshop, you will need access to the software used. This will be provided for you on the day.
